I already licked my finger once some years back after putting it in my butt, won't make that mistake twice.

It's nice they no longer have a 30GB version, I wonder what will happen when I call them and say I need a replacement unit. My current iPod is having seperation issues. Mainly, the chrome/steel bottom is warping out from the plastic, which looks fucking ugly. I mean, i paid something like a grand CDN for the bitch, it had BEST be quality hardware. Hopefully that doesn't repeat itself.

PS: I treat it like my second child, my first one is my car stereo. There is NO physical damage.

I'm seriously contemplating a 20GB as that would be enough for most of my store-bought CD collection extracted to mp3 and the few live set mixes and such that I have in mp3 format.

My biggest thing is not knowing the quality of the decoder on it and whether I should make everything 320CBR or ape-VBR - if it can even reproduce the ape-VBR in a noticeably different level from the 320CBR or not.

Also need to determine what the best pair of earphones would be that are easy to port around and not goofy-looking or mess-up-your-hair-when-you-have-gel-in-it ish.

An audiophile is someone who cares about high-fidelity sound quality, not someone who likes a wide range of music.

As for the desire for greater capacity, I would say the reason is that some of us are starting to look at these devices not as holding enough music to last for [x] days, but to hold our entire collection. When I can get a portable that holds 50+ GB, I can stop making cdr backups, or even ditch my cdr's since I have everything in 2 places. In most cases 3, counting the original CD.

I'm using paths. It's an incredibly helpful technique that doesn't seem to be very well known. I felt compelled to write up a tutorial on this earlier this week when The Jizzer PM'd me about an image I edited. I'll probably post that here in GBS later this weekend after I give it a few tweeks and expand on some of the ideas.
